Requirements for installation of Safe Exam Browser

  1. Only Windows 10, and 11 are supported.
  2. Windows operating system should be up to date.
  3. Hard drive should have 500MB of free space.
  4. You should have Admin Rights for the system.
  5. No Network/System Restrictions should be present.
  6. Anti-Virus should be disabled.

Steps to Check Safe Exam Browser Version

  1. Go to Control Panel and click on "Uninstall a Program".

  2. Search Safe Exam Browser in the list. If you don't have "Safe Exam Browser" in this list, you don't have it installed.
    If you have it installed and check its version.

Steps to install Safe Exam Browser 

  1. Check version of Safe Exam Browser in your system. See above for steps.
  2. If you don't have Safe Exam Browser installed, Continue.
    If you have it but version is different from 3.7.0, Uninstall the current version and then continue.
    If you have it and its version is 3.7.0. You can skip further steps mentioned here.
  3. Download the Safe Exam Browser Installer from here: Safe Exam Browser for Windows
  4. Launch Safe Exam Browser Installer

  5. Follow the given steps in Installer Wizard

  6. Allow Installation on Device

  7. Wait for Installation to complete

  8. Close Installation Wizard or restart the system is asked to.
        

Common Troubleshooting Steps while Installation

  1. Issues while Downloading/Installing SEB

    1. If you face any errors while downloading or installing the application try changing your internet connection.

  2. Setup Failed

    1. If you face this "Setup Failed" error(as shown in image below) while installing SEB, Follow following steps:
    2. Steps to fix this:
      1. Close the SEB installation wizard.
      2. Download and Install .NET 4.7.2 Runtime pack using this link: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/thank-you/net472-web-installer
      3. Start installation steps from step 1.

  3. Other Errors

Steps to uninstall Safe Exam Browser

  1. Go to Control Panel and click on "Uninstall a Program".

  2. Search Safe Exam Browser in the list. If you don't have "Safe Exam Browser" in this list, you don't have it installed.

  3. Right Click on "Safe Exam Browser" and then click "Uninstall".
  4. Click Uninstall on uninstall wizard.

  5. Wait on the processing screen.

  6. Click on "Close" after successful uninstallation.
