Common Issues faced

  1. Configuration Error

    1. If you face an error like below while launching the SEB application or starting the assessment, it must be due to an unstable internet connection, try changing your network.

  1. Session Start Error

    1. If you face an error "Session start error- SEB failed to start a new session! Please consult the log files for more information." with the below error box while starting the SEB application, try again after restarting your system.

  2. System Security Feature is disabled

    1. You may the below screen if you either lock your device or put it into sleep mode. In this case you need to force shutdown your system and try again.


Common Issues faced on MacOS

  1. Permissions Required for Web Applications

  1. Safe Exam Browser requires your system's Camera & Microphone access. If permissions are not already provided it'll prompt an error message for setting system preferences. In this scenario, follow the following steps:
          1. Go to "System Preferences".
                

          2. Then go to "Camera" in Security & Privacy settings and check the "Safe Exam       Browser" checkbox if not already checked.
          

          3. Then go to "Microphone" in Security & Privacy settings check the "Safe Exam       Browser" checkbox if not already checked.
          
  1. SEB Locked

    1. If you see a red screen with "SEB LOCKED" message, enter your system password and unclock the Safe Exam Browser.

  1. Safe Exam Browser becomes unresponsive

    1. If Safe Exam Browser becomes unresponsive or 404 page, login page, etc is shown, in such cases quit the Safe Exam Browser and re-launch it again.
  2. Web Page Unresponsive

    1. If you screen freezes while using the SEB application, close the application and start it again.

Common Issues faced on Windows

  1. Safe Exam Browser does not detect any displays

    1. On some systems, While starting the test, Safe Exam Browser(SEB) fails to start with an error similar to the one present in the image


    2. In this scenario, Follow the following steps:
      1. First, Restart the system and try again. If this doesn't fix the problem, Continue to step 2.
      2. Rebuilding the WMI Repository: See Rebuilding WMI Repository
      3. If both of these don't work, Please try using another system.

  2. Running Application Detected

    1. If Safe exam browser detects any forbidden app running, it will ask you to automatically terminate the applications. Click "Yes" to continue launching Safe exam browser. 



  3. SEB Locked

  1. If you see a red screen with "SEB LOCKED" message, force shut down and restart the system. Then re-launch Safe Exam Browser.


  1. Safe Exam Browser becomes unresponsive
    If Safe Exam Browser becomes unresponsive or 404 page, login page, etc is shown, in such cases quit the Safe Exam Browser and re-launch it again.
